Your Next LIMS: Cloud or On-Premises?
Description:
For organizations looking to implement a Laboratory Information Management System (LIMS), many are now considering the cloud (also known as Software as a Service or SaaS) as a deployment option vs. a traditional On-Premises implementation. SaaS provides several compelling benefits including no longer needing a capital investment in hardware\infrastructure\security since it is hosted by the vendor and providing the ability to pay a nominal monthly subscription fee for the solution. At the same time, some companies feel a loss of control because the software no longer is on-premises. However, this concern is decreasing every day as the move to SasS or cloud-based solutions continues to grow primarily due to low hardware costs, easy cloud management and proven safeguards on data integrity and security.
This presentation will go over the pros and cons of both SaaS and on-premises LIMS implementations with an emphasis on highlighting requirements unique to the laboratory. The discussion will help attendees determine the criteria they can use to make a decision. We will also walkthrough a cost of ownership analysis to add some credible financial comparisons to the SaaS vs. on-premises discussion. There are many factors to consider when deciding which LIMS deployment option to choose – this session will help attendees determine the criteria they can use to decide which deployment is best for them.
