Taking your LIMS to the Next Level with Mobile Technology
Description:
Mobile technology is quickly moving into the laboratory environment allowing laboratories to extend their testing operations to the field, the bench and beyond. One of the major drivers of leveraging mobile technology on smart phones and tablets is the need to have data in real-time, along with the requirement for accurate data and tight control over the sample movement from the collection site into the laboratory, the chain of custody. Be eliminating paper forms, no only is the laboratory reducing their carbon footprint, but they are also eliminating transcription errors, as there is no longer a need to interpret handwriting, the data is transmitted in real-time to the LIMS in the laboratory and the latitude and longitude are readily recorded, along with an electronic chain of custody.
This talk will discuss real-world use of the technology and how it is not only saving time and resources, but also yielding higher quality data and providing that data in real-time for much quicker decision making. We will examine several laboratories and their use of mobile technology in their daily work, we will discuss the many advantages over manual paper systems along with cost savings. We will also discuss the pros and cons of the various hardware options including smart phones, laptops and tablets with 4G, 5g or Wi-Fi connectivity or no connectivity at all.
Speaker: Dr. Christine Paszko - Accelerated Technology Laboratories
Dr. Christine Paszko is the Sr. Vice President at Accelerated Technology Laboratories, Inc. a LIMS, laboratory automation and informatics firm. She received her undergraduate degree in Medical Technology (MT ASCP), with a minor in Microbiology from the State University of New York @ Buffalo, and her doctorate at the University of Maryland in Molecular Microbiology. Her unique career combines a Ph.D. with 25+ years of experience in working in laboratories and leveraging data management tools, LIMS and automation. She worked at the Water Quality Manger at the Metropolitan Water District of Southern California, where she gained an appreciation for laboratory automation and LIMS. Dr. Paszko has been helping laboratories understand regulatory compliance requirements (ISO 17025), leverage LIMS and automation to increase productivity, throughput and profitability.
