It’s Time to Buy a LIMS: Words of Advice for Today’s Laboratory
Description:
Purchasing a Laboratory Information Management System (LIMS) (whether for the first time or as a replacement) can be an overwhelming experience for any laboratory. There are many products to choose from but a LIMS that may be ideal for some market sectors may not be a good fit for others. And history is filled with stories of organizations who selected a LIMS that did not meet their expectations. This presentation focuses on providing valuable guidance to buyers by helping them create a logical and successful LIMS selection and implementation plan.
This presentation provides guidance (for both novice and experienced buyers) to help navigate the complex process of evaluating and selecting the right LIMS. Discussion topics will include:
• A step-by-step review of the LIMS planning and implementation process that begins with defining the project scope and ends with final deployment and going live.
• Why a LIMS needs assessment is a laboratory’s secret weapon to a successful LIMS evaluation and implementation project.
• How to properly define your LIMS requirements for today and tomorrow.
• LIMS and the Cloud: An increasingly popular deployment option that opens the door to a LIMS for many organizations.
• A collection of the most valuable best practices and lessons learned that will help laboratories avoid obstacles to a successful LIMS deployment project.
