Changes to analytical procedures related USP general chapter, <621> Chromatography
Description:
Updates to USP general chapter <621> present an opportunity for harmonization amongst a variety of global pharmacopeia bodies as well as the ability to more effectively leverage advanced chromatographic technologies to modernize existing methods. Harmonization of calculations and naming conventions look to create a more robust environment for data collection and processing, streamlining activities in laboratories. Scaling of chromatographic methods has previously been endorsed for isocratic methods but remained out of reach for gradient separations. The suggested allowable modifications to gradient methods in <621> allow for the use of smaller particles and higher pressure rated systems for decreased run times and solvent use through more efficient chromatography. Embracing these changes will be ideal for laboratories as they continue to strive for improvements in their everyday operations.
Speaker: Andrew Argo - Waters
